Rome
What role does legend play in Rome's beginning?
Before people knew how Rome actually began, they relied on a story about two brothers named Romulus and Remus. This legend says that these two brothers were abandoned near the Tiber River then rescued and raised by a wolf. Once they were grown, they decided to build a city around 753BCE. When Romulus was building a certain wall, Remus made fun of him. Infuriated by this, Romulus killed his brother and later established Rome.

Who were the Etruscans?
The Etruscans were one of the two groups of people who joined the Romans in Italy. They also had a large role in the shaping of Roman civilization and early growth. Their homes were located in the North, but in 650BCE they moved South and took over Rome. These people were very experienced with metal and became wealthy off of mining and trade. Finally, they made enslaved people do all of their hardest work, making their lives easier and more comfortable.
~~Summary~~
Rome was pretty much the ideal place to live, which is why it greatly prospered. The soil there was fertile so it was good for farming. Olives and Grapes were and still are mostly grown there. Rome is what you would call a peninsula because it projects out into the sea. Historians are not exactly sure how Rome was officially established, but they think it was when a Latin group settled there around 1000BCE. However, most people believe in the legend of two brothers named Romulus and Remus. It says that they were abandoned near the Tiber River then were found and raised by a wolf. The brothers supposedly decided to create a city in 753BCE. When Remus made fun of a certain wall that his brother was building, Romulus became infuriated and killed Remus. It was then said that he went on to establish Rome and become the first ruler. As Rome developed more, it gained more allies and became powerful. With a strong army, large water supply, and rich farm land, Rome continued to flourish for many years.
