- Ziggurat: means "mountain of god."
- Artisans: skilled workers that made useful products.
- Cuneiform: first form of writing; uses wedged- shaped symbols.

- Epic of Gilgamesh: the world's oldest known story; comes from Sumer.
- Sargon: king of the Akkadian; first to conquer all of Mesopotamia.
- Empire: a group of many different lands all under one ruler.

- Hammurabi: king of babylonian empire; famous for his law codes.

EQ: How did the Mesopotamian civilization develop?
The Mesopotamian civilization developed in many ways including some of the following. The people now have developed civilizations which consist of cities, government, art, religion, a class system, and a writing system. One of those civilizations was called Sumer and it was located in the fertile crescent. Their religion was Polytheistic meaning that they believed in many gods. Sumerians were also divided up into 3 social classes which largely depended on what kind of house they lived in. These people for many reasons had a big affect on the development of literature, science, and math as well.

Problem: It was very unpredictable to when it would flood. So that made farmers worry about their crops.
Solution: If you study Meteorology you would be a better farmer and know how to better prepare your crops.
